Random

Carter & Ryan were taking turns playing Toca Boca Doctor on the iPad.  It's cool that Ruan is learning how to do some of the learning games.

We gave puppy & then Tao a bath.  Puppy was way dirtier (pics not included on purpose).  This is Tao's final hand rinse cycle.

Here Logan is talking make-believe with his trucks:

VBS

The boys just completed their first time at Vacation Bible School (VBS)!  They had such a fun time.  Logan was 100% sure of going all the time.  Carter was a bit timid on some if the days, but said he'd be brave.  He wanted me to walk him in while holding hands, take him to his door, give him a high-five & say Adios!  Then he will tell his leader that he misses me.  Cute.  I did my part; not sure what he told his leader. :)

They had special days: Backwards day (Logan wore his shirt backwards & was excited to do so. Carter wanted no part of it; he wanted to wear his clothes forwards.  I didn't push him; at this point I just wanted him to go & have fun!  They've never been at a school type function, let alone for 2.5 hours!

Wednesday was yellow day; they both did that....as it wasn't a big deal to wear a certain color.

Thursday was crazy hair or hat day.  Logan wanted spikes; Carter woke up with awesome bed head....he wanted his hair combed nice; no hat.

They had do much fun!  And both were so excited to tell me all about their morning.  Crafts, snacks, games, playground time, movie time, book time - you name it, they did it all!!!

Here they are holding their craft booklets that the leaders put together.  It was a very nice program & they both know to TRUST GOD!  (That was the theme)

Let It Rain!!

I started yard work the other day when Linda & Viv were dropped off.  Logan & Carter helped scrape out some dead grass while I started edging the plant area.

(Ew. Gross. The grass is all up in the plant area.)

(Just to put the before & after pics together, here is what I accomplished during the rain)

Shortly after it started to sprinkle.  I looked up & saw that it want crazy cloudy so told the kids they could play in the rain.  Well they did.  And it kept raining.  After 10 minutes there was no point in bringing them in.  Though it was funny....they wanted to go inside the second it stopped.

(Notice Carter is kind of in the garage....he would seek shelter more often than the others.)

So we came in & they all changed while their clothes dried.  Mike came early to get the girls & they used him as a human jungle gym while we waited.

What a good sport.

Boogers & Toots

Oh the life of boys.

This morning Carter randomly, but seriously says....when no one's looking sometimes I stick my finger up my nose, pick out a booger & stick it somewhere.

I almost couldn't hold in my laughter!!  Instead I merely suggested that he grab a tissue next time & use it & keep it in the tissue since it's gross to put it places.

Later, at breakfast, he says, Hm, I smell something...  I say oh yeah? Like what? (We were eating oatmeal so I expected something along those lines.  Silly me).  "Well it came from my butt......"

Stop there.  Aiyiyi....  He wanted to clarify that it wasn't a fart, it was just a toot.

Random silliness

Hey Carter, can you please put the blocks away?

As he skates across the room going in the wrong direction....

Logan made me Rescue Bot soup.  It was served with a dirty sand shovel.  Mmm....but he was proud.

Ryan showed me just how fast he can get on a countertop.  I would like to bolt my stools & chairs to the ground.  (Seriously....he is dressed typically for 99% of his day.  I dislike that I have so many diaper-only pictures)

Carter spelled mom on the magnet thingy.

Good ol Ikea

John wanted to finally buy a new Apple computer.  I asked him to swing by IKEA to get a new shoe cabinet for the front foyer.  He took Logan & they ventured out.  4 hours later they returned with the shoe cabinet, a desk, desk chair & an extra fold down desk (that we are still finding a home for).....and no computer.  They were not in stores yet apparently.

Part of their delay was due to this:

Then together as a family we put together some furniture:

I was later ditched by the older two as they went to help John. *Luckily* Ryan, the hardware-thrower stayed with me.  Once we was done watching me scramble for the pieces he tossed, he got down to work.

Then he was testing one of the bars strength by hanging on it.  Thanks, pal.

Before:

After:

And for the desk, a tight squeeze but we needed something & this was the only corner:

Yay for a productive day!  And yesterday flowers & veggies/herbs got planted thanks to the help of my parents. :)

He's so.....

Bada$$.  Walking with a 2-year old swagger down the hall in his diaper with his fireman hat on.  Serious face.  A toddler on a mission.....with puppy & Mickey in hand.  I just wish the picture wasn't blurry.  I was trying so hard to get the picture cuz he was just a sight!

Happy Fathers Day

This past Sunday was Fathers Day.  We are celebrating with my Dad next weekend, which worked out well this time since John just lost his Dad & wanted a pretty low key day.

The boys took this pic ahead of time & gave it to him for his desk.  They are each wearing a running shirt & 3 of his many running medals.

We did not frame the first few takes:

A lollipop seemed to do the trick this time.  Whew!

We also made a banner (even Ryan helped):

End product:

Logan made a word out of pretzels to celebrate the day!

The day before they exercised & stretched with John before he went for a run:

(Push-ups)

(Jumping Jacks)

The day before we also hung out with friends & went to a little festival.  They had bounce houses for the kids & an activity corner.  It was cute.

They made John buttons that he wore proudly:

They scored balloon animals:

And played some games & won dumb prizes. :)

Carter's aim was really good.  I can't say the same of Logan....but it could've been an off day. ;)

A very nice weekend indeed. :)

My jumper

We had Aunt Dawns pool to ourselves (well, with the Gaertigs) & it was just the right amount of calm & crazy for their first real swim of the summer.  Logan was in the pool for 5.5 hours!!!  Breaking for lunch & peeing only!  I'm SO proud.

Until now he has only jumped in the pool while holding hands with somebody that was already in the water.....soon enough he was jumping to me while I was standing halfway across the pool, jumping onto pool rafts, sliding off, kicking to the side, getting off & repeating.... For 2.5 hours!

Next time we will work more on swimming.  I want him swimming by the end of summer with no assistance.  That's my plan.

He learned quickly that Uncle Steve can be a mischevious person....so here he was making sure he wasn't going to pull it away far....

Even though he did pull it a little bit, Logan landed perfectly!

This one is kind of my favorite!

Uncle Steven added some tricks.  Like a tube around the turtles head to raise it just a bit.

He also put a blue ball in Logan's tube & Logan got it out!  It was funny.  He'd try & try & then get it out & ask him to do it again.

This is a pretty cute pic of the two of them (Steven is Logan's Godfather). :)

Logan also participated in his first Chicken Fight with TJ & his girlfriend, Clare.  It was a good time. :)
