Likes/Dislikes

So my friend Carrie had a good idea....she sent me a list of things she couldn't live without for her baby, Nolan....and a list of things she hasn't used yet or doesn't like.

So I would LOVE the advice of anybody who wants to dish it! I know everybody will have some different opinions and some of the same...but I would love to hear them.

Email me ANYTIME to share advice/likes/dislikes. :)

Thanks!!!!!

Week 13

Yay....Week 13...down!

So this past week...mostly I've been feeling just fine...little waves of nausea, but nothing too crazy.

This past Monday we had some really bad weather....really cold (30s & 40s....last week was 70s)...it even snowed huge snowflakes! Well I woke up with a really bad headache (that lasted most of the day) and then proceeded to be nauseous most of the day. So I blame the bad weather.

Other than random days where I don't feel 'amazing', I feel pretty darn good. Brushing my teeth is still not good...I'm beginning to think that dry-heaving 3-4 times a week due to brushing may stick with me this whole pregnancy. I've gotten used to it, but still wouldn't mind if it went away!

Still no little bump yet....but our baby is the size of a medium shrimp...not quick as glamorous sounding as a lime, but it's what babycenter.com says. :) This means that the baby is about 3 inches long....can you believe it!?!?!?! I took a look at all the past weeks' pictures of 'how big the baby was' and it is SOOO amazing how much this little baby has already grown! I can't believe it! Oh, how exciting!

I get to hear the baby's heartbeat on Monday...I'm soooo excited! It seems like my last appointment was just a little bit ago!

I really can't believe that I'm almost 14 weeks along...I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes this fast!

Week 12

Hello there!

I am not as good at updating my site as I had hoped I'd be....I guess I come home from being on the computer all day and don't necessarily feel like hopping on...although I often think about it.

So I completed 12 weeks of pregnancy!!!!!  Yeah me...I am now in my 2nd trimester!!!

This week our baby is the size of a lime!!!!  The baby is about two and a half inches long...can you believe it?  That is a big baby all of a sudden!  Although the baby weighs a half ounce....so it is a VERY light baby!  )

So some questions that I've been asked or I would have asked my friends....

Is my nausea gone?  Not yet...in fact, it appears to be a bit more random, however it is less severe...and my 'traffic' nausea has dramatically decreased.  Sometimes I do remain super tired in the morning....in fact there are times where I've arrived to work in the parking lot and have either been nauseous or soooo tired, that I've taken a nap before I've headed in for the day.  Again, I am really thankful for my flex-hours job....if I had strict hours, it would definitely make this morning sickness and tired-ness a smidge harder.  Oh....and I still despise brushing me teeth in the morning...no fun!

Am I super tired?  Not really....Yes, sometimes in the morning I do get tired as mentioned above....and sometimes right after lunch I am tired, but I thought I would be exhausted...especially in the evening....not true.  Before I was pregnant, John would look at me at 9:30 and 9 times out of 10, I would be asleep.  Now, I am still up.....crazy!?!?!  I would say it is due to the iron supplement I'm taking...however, I was taking it before (along with prenatal vitamins)...so I don't know...but hey, it's great!

Are you showing yet?  Not really.....but yes I have gained about 9 pounds and it does show in my gut (and thighs).  The 'big' pants I bought a few weeks ago still fit...but I do need to get more tops...as other ones are hugging me a bit more....and again, right now, it is just fat...which isn't super pretty.  :)

Any mood swings?  No...I have been really happy.  John, naturally, would probably like to disagree....but I've been lovely...I've even purchased a bunch of groceries and have cooked dinner for over a week now!  For those of you who know me well, John and I have kept the fast food industry alive the last several years.  I do get into modes of cooking, but I hope that this one lasts a bit longer.  Also, I blame the weight I've gained on fast food....when I was nauseous, McD's fries and a burger or chicken strips would do the trick...now I think 'no way'.

Do I feel pregnant yet?  Hm.  Yes I am always conscious of my stomach and I make sure that I eat and drink throughout the day....I do talk to the baby and rub my belly....and I have nauseous symptoms....we've seen the baby via ultrasounds.....but as far as having the 'feeling' yet....not really (although since I've read that the uterus is just above my pubic bone, I try to 'feel' around my stomach for it...and I heard by doing so, the baby moves!).  I've said it before, but I think it is all still so surreal to me.  We are SO blessed to have a positive pregnancy test after all this time, I am still so surprised.  I must say that so far it has gone by quickly...which is a good thing.  I can't wait to show and start wearing maternity clothes and feel the baby!  OOh...it will be soooo exciting!!!

I'll try and post more later this week!!!!!

Week 11

So last Saturday was Week 11....only one more week of my first trimester...hooray!

I think I have figured out my morning sickness 'cure' (although like my Mom says, I'll have it finally all figured out by the time it is over). And I'm sure I'll keep thinking I have the fix. Currently, I believe that if I get plenty of sleep the day before I am usually golden the next day. It was true all this weekend and Monday....however I didn't get enough sleep yesterday and today wasn't amazing....but still better than a couple weeks ago.

I continue to read my pregnancy journal and glow when I learn what new thing our baby is growing or doing....the baby can now bend their wrist and the baby is growing some skin...not so transparent...so that's exciting! Our baby is now the size of a fig. I've not seen many figs in my day, but they're about 1.5 inches long...go baby go!

The weather is finally becoming gorgeous here...so Buddy and I have been enjoying our 1.5-2 mile daily afternoon walks. I am sure the baby is enjoying it too. On my walks I let Buddy know that next year at this time we'll have a stroller and he'll have to continue to be an amazing walker and not pull me (he never has, thankfully...despite his 70 pound physique). What a great dog!

Migraine and a Dark Line

Well today I have a migraine...I rarely got them before...very rare...so who knows where this came from. I am sitting in my office with no lights on and my sunglasses on....I look very cool! I tried to rest it off this morning, but it is a no-go. I was given a list of approved over the counter meds from my doctor...so if it is not better by the time I go home, I'll take some Tylenol.

My Mom said that when she was pregnant with my brother she got migranes quite frequently...shoul've known he was going to be trouble! (haha...just kidding James!) So perhaps this could be the sign of a boy?? Who knows....only 10 more weeks till we find out (ugh..seems like forever).

In the meantime, I noticed today that I have what is called 'linea nigra'...aka... Dark Line (creative, right?). It is a line from my belly button down. I've heard a couple people get this. It is apparently more common in darker-pigmented people (not as common in fair skinned peeps)...so I guess I have my Italian roots to thank? It can be caused by a lack of folic acid....I am getting some through my prenatal vitamin, but I will go home and eat some leafy greens just to be safe. :) However, it is also rumored that this is a sign of a boy...hmmmm....

Not showing yet...just an extra layer of 'chub' I've created by being car sick and stopping at fast food places...although I am stopping that...it's bad news eating all that bad stuff.

Other than that, there is nothing too new here!!! Just staying happy and pregnant!!!

My 1st OB appointment

Today John and I went to our first OB appointment.

We reviewed medical history....I had an exam and then we got another ultrasound...the absolute BEST ONE YET!!!!!!!!!!!

So we saw the heartbeat right away....then our eyes were quickly taken by what finally appears to be a baby!!!

Oh, we saw a head with two parts of a big brain, two eyes, a nose and a mouth...however the picture doesn't show it as well as in person.

We saw arms...look at those long arms...looks like he or she is going through a roller coaster...weeee!!! And look at those beautiful fingers!!! Our baby was waving to us!

We saw legs....long legs (go figure with John being 6'4 and me 5'7).

But one of the even better parts of it was we SAW THE BABY MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh it was soooooooooooo cool....The baby was wiggling around and around....John and I were laughing...we were just so tickled by this! I think we have a gymnast on our hands (John claims a football player)!

Our doctor was wonderful...very nice, bubbly, informative...all around wonderful. She is one of seven doctors that will be at the hospital to deliver the baby....so that being said, each doctor appt. going forward I am going to try and meet each of the doctors...I don't necessarily want some strange girl or guy being a huge part of the best day of our lives without having met them at some point. That being said...I really hope that I like all of them!!!

Our doctor did inform us that the gender is 50% boy or 50% girl. Ahaha!!!!

We got a 'gift bag' full of goodies on behalf of Enfamil. So while I plan on breastfeeding...I would like to thank them for a gift! I got a mini-journal to keep track of doctor appts. and random daily things. :) And as an early 3rd trimester gift I got a travel bag complete with a free sample of Similac. So I guess I will keep in on hand just in case for some reason I am not able to breastfeed...as I've heard that formula is sooo expensive...any free sample will help. :)

It is so cool to have a few little baby things around the house.

Watching our baby move was just the absolute coolest thing to see to date. The pregnancy just got a little more real for me. I so wish they would allow us to take a video...I would love nothing more than to watch our baby move any time of the day I wish...until I can feel the baby...I will just have to daydream about it. :)

Week 10

Okay so, Saturday the 5th marked my official 10 Week milestone (every week is a milestone to me).

The morning sickness has lessened....I still get it, but it is not nearly as severe as it was the last couple weeks....however the car sickness is just not good. If I am on straight highway, I am fine...however stoplights, stop signs and traffic are just a kick in the pants!

I haven't had to fly yet for my job....but the time will come in mid-May, if not sooner....so I am really hoping that flying is not as bad....and am hoping in general that the morning sickness and car sickness comes to a halt! :)

While up in Wisconsin this weekend, my nieces did the 'Pencil Test' and the test claims that I am having a girl this time....then I'll have a boy, then another girl (the same order my Mom had her kids!).

We'll see if it was right....
