I can't believe it - Logan is 10 months old today! Oh how time sure does fly by! Here are many updates on our little boy at this age. My Mom and I were just discussing how much children change during their first year....I guess all these updates I am including prove that point!
So being as how it has been 2 months since new teeth popped through, guess what happened today? Another tooth! I tell you...this boy has an alarm clock for his teeth...to the day! At 6 month he got his bottom 2....8 months, his top two....now his lower left tooth next to his front two came in. Funny thing is, I can see that his upper 2 (to complete the set of 4) are SO close to coming in that I've been stalking his mouth for those 2 teeth this past week. I just happened to feel his lower gum line today (which I did the other day as well) and there it was - a jagged little tooth!
Also Logan has been walking SO much with us holding his hands. He walks well in bare feet as well as with shoes (he's had practice since the weather has been so chilly here). Recently he has even taken some steps when we are just holding one of his hands. However, he still doesn't stand on his own - anytime we try, he will stand for a second then fall down...so we need to work on his confidence there. Then again, he is only 10 months so he has plenty of time. :) I did, oddly enough, have a dream last night that we walked all on his own...and funny thing - my Mom did too! Same night! Now, in my dream Logan also learned how to potty train himself...yeah, that for sure won't happen in the next couple months! :)
Logan explores SO much! He loves to go in the laundry room and can be there within seconds if he hears that I open the door. The problem is that the water heater and furnace and all that 'bad' stuff is in there - and he likes to hit those objects. Needless to say, that door stays closed. He also is fascinated with the toilet and toilet paper. Needless to say, that door stays closed. He loves to climb the stairs - we are getting a gate soon for the bottom. If he is half way up and I start coming after him, he goes even faster and laughs - it is really funny! He likes to sit on the landing. Naturally, if we are on the stairs, so is the big dog, Buddy! So it gets kind of crowded! Logan also loves, loves, loves Buddy's water bowl. Since Buddy is a tall dog, his water bowl is in a stand....so Logan pulls himself up and splashes around. If Buddy is eating his food, Logan likes to stand right next to him and watch. Even Buddy, oddly enough, doesn't stalk Logan when he eats (I call Buddy over if something falls on the floor....and as soon as Logan is out of the chair, then Buddy comes over to clean up his chair-droppings). When Buddy is done, I put his bowl up - he probably doesn't think it is too fair, but I bring his water bowl down every so often or when Logan naps. Logan also loves to open up cabinets - of course, all the ones that contain breakables, cords or cleaning supplies. So, this week I will stock up on cabinet locks.
Logan's favorite toys are still his hammers - he has 2 - one that is green and one that is yellow and blue, but makes noises when you bang it or shake it. He also loves his house - when you open the door or the mailbox or the window, etc. it talks to you - pretty cool. His favorite stuffed animal is the Cat in the Hat - he smiles every time he sees it and will crawl very fast if you are playing with it across the room. He also takes a little squeaky duck around with him - I even have pictures of him sleeping with it in his fist...too cute!
He still goes to bed super easy - I pray that all our kids follow in his footsteps...and that it, for the most part, remains this easy going forward.
Lately he has taken to smacking his lips and 'blubbering' them - especially when he is getting tired or has just had a frustrated experience with a toy being stuck. If we leave the backdoor open for Buddy to run in and out, you can now bet that within 30 seconds, Logan will be outside too. I am sure Buddy cannot wait until Logan learns how to throw a ball for him to fetch.
He is still a good eater, however if whatever he's eating is on a spoon, chances are he is not going to eat a ton of it. However, give the child a blueberry pancake or other finger foods and he shovels it in as if it is going out of style! I think he enjoys feeding himself....but we are not at the point of using a utensil just yet.
He also has started to nod his head yes - he randomly does this in his high chair or while sitting and standing. We are thankful he has currently chose to nod his head yes, instead of shake his head no. :)
That is what I can think of off the top of my head!
John and I are excitedly planning his 1st birthday party. Since my cousin is getting married the weekend just after his actual birthday (the weekend of my birthday), we are celebrating his birthday with family and friends on Halloween! How exciting!
